The essentials of building of a strong engineering team and foundational products

What’s more important than building the product better?
It’s having the right foundations. In my opinion the most important job of a technical leader is to keep the core of tech foundation rock solid. The rest will take care of itself. Often we are so busy in building the product fast that we don’t care about the Tech Debt until its too big that it starts to slow down. I don’t think its a separate Job whereas something that you can manage simultaneously while building products. I often use the HillClimb racing analogy to describe the situation.

Let’s see how many of you can figure it all?

The core to these things are -

  1. Developer productivity

  2. Technical Debt

  3. Effective DevOps
